tilibs install : libticalcs, libticables, libtifiles and libticonv download and GNU/Linux install howto

Let’s start an howto about the install of libtis which are required by several GNU/Linux tools (tilp, tilem2).

What’s the purpose of these libraries?

Libtis are essentials to handle :

  1. file format (libtifiles)
  2. file conversion like grouping (libticonv)
  3. multiples cables and their behaviour (libticables)
  4. calc models (libticalcs)

You can download libtis on ticalc on this tilibs page

Alternatively, you could download recent libs from tilp website.

Then you have to configure and compile libraries in a special order as there’s dependencies…

First unarchive tilibs.tar.gz :

tar xvzf tilibs

You get a tilibs directory.

Unarchive each library :

tar xvjf libticonv-1.1.3.tar.bz2
tar xvjf libtifiles2-1.1.5.tar.bz2
tar xvjf libticables2-1.3.3.tar.bz2tar xvjf libticalcs2-1.1.7.tar.bz2

You will have 4 new directories :

  1. libticonv-1.1.3
  2. libtifiles2-1.1.5
  3. libticables2-1.3.3
  4. libticalcs2-1.1.7

Now you have to compile the lib in a special order !!!

  1. libticonv-1.1.3
  2. libtifiles2-1.1.5
  3. libticables2-1.3.3
  4. libticalcs2-1.1.7

But before, download build-essentials, libusb-dev and libarchive-dev if you don’t already have it :
On a debian or ubuntu :

sudo apt-get install build-essentials
sudo apt-get install libusb-dev
sudo apt-get install liarchive-dev

So first change directory to libticonv-1.1.3 and configure make and install :

./configure
make
sudo make install

Then second change directory to libtifiles2-1.1.5 and configure make and install :

./configure
make
sudo make install

Then third change directory to libticables-1.3.3 and configure make and install :

./configure
make
sudo make install

And finally change to libticalcs2-1.1.7 and configure make and install :

./configure
make
sudo make install

Now you should be OK :)

If you try to install tilem or tilp directly, you can get an error like this :

tilem2: error while loading shared libraries: libticalcs2.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

You need to update your link library like this :

sudo ldconfig

Then compile tilem2 or tilp and it should be OK :)
